HVAC basics
Get familiar with the types of systems you'll see as an HVAC technician, including AC split systems, mini-split systems, heat pumps, and furnaces. We'll also introduce you to the refrigeration cycle, which controls how HVAC systems move heat.
HVAC electrical
Electric components control when HVAC system components turn on and off, like the compressor and condenser fan. We'll cover the components that control HVAC systems and how to check to make sure they're working properly.
Indoor air quality (IAQ)
You'll learn about airflow and how HVAC systems help keep your home safe from pollutants.
Air conditioning systems
You'll master the refrigeration cycle to understand how refrigerant moves through an air conditioning system and how it moves heat. We'll cover everything you need to know about AC systems and components.
Heating systems
The H in HVAC stands for heating. We'll review common heating systems like furnaces, heat pumps, electric heat, and boilers so you can ace your first winter season.
HVAC system maintenance
Learn all about what preventative maintenance is, why it's important, and the common maintenance procedures you'll be performing.
EPA 608 Certification
The Federal Clean Air Act requires that technicians who maintain, service, repair, or dispose of equipment that could release refrigerants into the atmosphere must be certified by the EPA. We'll help you study for and earn your EPA 608 Universal Certification.
